Tolerance of Visual Nonsense
Oh, you need an example to make this point more vivid? Well, I caught a video I may never have seen before from Rick Springfield for the song "Human Touch," and I must tell you that my jaw dropped more profoundly than the Disciples when Jesus dropped back in for an unexpected visit. This clip is an astounding mish-mash of cast-off set pieces from the old "Battlestar Galactica," and to see Springfield try to lead a bunch of big-hair skanks in choreography blows away your worst Excedrin headache. Suffice it to say that several lighted buttons were pushed before Springfield and his chosen skank retired to a Spinal Tap-inspired pod to begin a prolonged period of space hibernation.
So what do we learn from this? That the modern world forces us into bad community theater costumes so we can act out imaginary fantasies about a space-age future that will never come? All I know is that the wonders of an expanded satellite TV package never cease.
