In Retrospect: Original MTV Veejay Speaks About Continuing Influence of '80s Music
Monday July 3, 2006
Next month MTV will complete its 25th year of existence as a music industry mover and shaker. Although specific commemorative events designed to celebrate that momentous anniversary have not yet materialized, I checked in with original veejay Nina Blackwood recently to glean insight from her place at the forefront of '80s music and the video revolution. Still an active supporter and proponent of '80s music as host of multiple radio programs, she had plenty to say about the continuing relevance of that decade's music. Steve,
Great interview. Love the ’80s Nina Blackwood photo. LOL.
Can anyone tell me who the artist is in the early 80’s video featuring a lot of California footage? I remember a girl roller skating? It was a slower song. HELP!
Kent,
Was it David Lee Roth, “California Girls”?
You must have known that, because you posted right under the Nina Blackwood interview and she appeared in that video as … well … a California Girl.
