1984 Wasn't All Doom & Gloom: Here's a Few Decent Songs From That Year

Let's forget for a moment that Ronald Reagan was in office and just concentrate on the fact that the quality of pop music had perhaps never been better than the best music 1984 had to offer. With Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and Prince, among others, releasing classic albums that year, it's a painstaking and necessarily flawed process to count down just a few best songs. Witness the fact that my list of the top 10 songs from 1984 features only one song from any of these three monster artists, and you either question my sanity with a full-throated, quizzical roar or you start to ponder just how much great music there is to choose from. For the sake of your vocal chords, at least consider doing the latter.
