Two Decades After Its Founding, Farm Aid Continues to Raise Awareness
Sunday July 16, 2006
In 1985, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson and friends worked together to organize the first Farm Aid benefit concert to help struggling family farmers in America, an issue close to Mellencamp and the other rock musicians who participated. Earlier this month the concert date for this year's edition of Farm Aid was set for September 30 at the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, New Jersey. Headlining the show will be Mellencamp and Nelson, of course, along with co-founder Neil Young and the Dave Matthews Band. Tickets go on sale Saturday, July 22 at 10AM.
