Boy George Struggles Continue: Culture Club Replaces Him With... "Sam"

Saturday July 22, 2006
e52975kbv6i.jpg Following a cocaine arrest last October and more legal troubles less than a month ago, the indignities for Boy George continue to pile up. Last week the remaining members of George's former band, Culture Club, announced that they had found a replacement for the flamboyant lead singer. Characterized only as "Sam," the new singer is to be unveiled at a London gig this week. Wow, sounds to me like a movie that never sees a theatrical release and is rushed straight to video. Or maybe one of those formerly big-ticket projects that mysteriously remains unavailable for review up until the film's release.

Sans George, Culture Club is planning a possible world tour next year, and a television company is considering a reality show to follow the band's reformation. Scintillating stuff indeed.

Methinks Culture Club without Boy George is like Queen without Freddie Mercury. But 10% as good.

I can’t imagine going to see C.C. without B.G.

I disagree with David, I saw Culture Club with ‘Sam’ last night and to my mind they were every bit as fun as the band I remember, go see them and have some fun!

…Culture Club a new lead singer yes..
and new guitarist Phil Picket but what about original Cukture Club guitarist Roy Hay, what happened to him? having only two remaining members is hardly a band re-forming…..

Phil Picket plays keyboard not guitar, and was an original member of the band.. check the sleeve notes to Colour By Numbers. The new Guitarist Jim, is fabulous!

Culture Club will not be the same without Boy George.I use to love them in the 80’s I am surprized they are still around in England.

I went to see an 80’s revival show 2 yrs ago bands included were pseudo echo, village people and boy george, well he was such a huge dissapointment to me he, was fat, he looked dreadful and for his singing that was horrid! Idon’t think I was the only one in the audience who was shocked by him, when he came out and sang everyone went quiet except for the more than occasional wispers of ” oh my god I can’t believe how bad he is”. I think he felt it as he said to the audience,”you can enjoy yourself if you want!!” so I can’t blame them for replacing him!!

BOy George, should quit taking drugs, does he want to lose his reputation?Look what happened to Kate Moss, she lost millions of dollars, for using poisonous drugs.I`ll never use drugs, even if they pay me million of dollars. My advice to George ,is to take care, otherwise,he`ll lose a lot of fans.I wonder what happened to the sweet blonde transvestite Marilyn(george`s Gay friend).Give George, the last chance, please.
