1981 a Banner Year for the Trailblazing Women of the Go-Go's
Sunday April 15, 2007
With one of the strongest and best-selling albums of the '80s in Beauty and the Beat, the Go-Go's stormed the music scene in 1981 and basically became legendary. The band's music may have become far more pop-oriented as its brief career progressed, but the mark made by the quintet's self-reliant approach to rock and roll success still shows today in every all-female, artistically independent musical group that emerges. Just ask the Bangles, contemporaries who both benefited from and added to the impressive accomplishments of the Go-Go's.
