I gotta give some of the credit for this one to a reader, whose suggestion a couple of months back of this forgotten 1987 masterpiece with an unforgettable melody may have subconsciously set the stage for its inclusion in this spot. Anyway, it's certainly an example of an '80s song that should have ruled the charts and would have done so probably without overstaying its welcome. But as we all know from brilliant television shows that get ruthlessly canceled (I just spent the weekend watching the entire tragically short-lived Showtime series Dead Like Me and don't expect to ever fully recover), the best entertainment offerings face long odds when it comes to surviving in our junk culture.
So that's the kind of fate that befell Scottish pop genius Roddy Frame, the mastermind of this early alternative band responsible for some of the finest, most permanent melodies of the '80s if not the entire rock music era. "Somewhere in My Heart" is the kind of song that should have conspired with Crowded House and other premium late '80s pop acts to move the pop charts violently away from Rick Astley. But I know, I'm sounding like a broken record with that old chestnut of a complaint. Brighten your week - and your music collection - right away if you don't yet have this tune in your house.

I knew of this band in the 80′s, but never heard any of their tunes. After reading this review, I downloaded it. So cool. Inspired me to get more of their tunes. Guess this was it. The other tunes I was able to download are vastly inferior. Not catchy at all, but this one should have at least made Aztec Camera a one hit wonder.
They are the original artist to record True Colors, if I am not mistaken.
