'80s Hottie of the Fortnight, Nik Kershaw
Although he had far more of an impact in his homeland than in the States, British singer/songwriter Nik Kershaw was a memorable '80s figure as somewhat of a teen idol as well as the composer of at least one bona fide '80s classic in "Wouldn't It Be Good". Like Canadian singer Corey Hart, Kershaw took the image and style of new wave and applied a thin layer of it to his own mainstream take on pop and rock songcraft. The result didn't break down any walls but certainly stands as some of the most solid, workmanlike music of the era.As for Kershaw's look... well, he's no Corey Hart, but the former had his share of young female admirers at his peak, sporting a bone structure that reminds me of James Marsters' Spike from TV's wonderful Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. There's also a little Guy Pearce I might see in there. But I think at this point I've already thought about this too much. Please enjoy.
