Bask in the Special Glow of '80s TV Themes

Sunday April 13, 2008
It's a joyously endless topic for discussion, the unforgettable and sometimes jaw-droppingly hokey theme songs to our favorite '80s TV shows. That's why any superlative list on this topic inevitably remains incomplete, as questions of personal taste and the specific nature of nostalgia are nothing if not unpredictable. Even so, I submit my list of the Top 10 Musical Themes Composed Especially for '80s TV Shows, a collection of tunes that could change by the day depending upon my reflective pop culture moods but one that can't help but be intriguing to almost anyone born between 1970 and 1975, at the very least. If you're under 30, you may not have viewed the same embarrassing degree of non-cable series television as we, the most hopeless children of the '80s, but this list will at least give you an idea of some of the astounding things you missed. Just remember the most important thing of all as you enjoy the list: "The world don't move to the beat of just one drum." What else can I say?
